You may need a crash course in football video game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. On one hand, it's probably not too cool to say Xbox Madden 10 is great, just because it stands out next to crap from 30 years ago. On the other hand, after a closer examination of the older football video games, it's easier to comprehend why Xbox Madden 10 has been at the center of such unadulterated adulation. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. But the catch was, the power of the early video game consoles didn't exactly equal the imaginations and desires of those early hardcore gamers, so everyone had to settle for less. Even then, the game companies were excellent at the hype, and kept boasting that this one boasted "all the excitement" of real football. The players themselves have closer resemblance to space aliens than members of a football team. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. From a technological standpoint, things were so basic, that multiple players moving at once meant that the only thing extreme about this game was the flickering of the players. Audio was as awful as the video. As you'd probably guessed, there wasn't a scrolling screen for this one. Soon, the first round of the console wars would begin, and the competition created a football video game of their own. It had made the necessary innovations to make sports video games some serious business - the characters were animated better, without the same graphical setbacks, and this time, there was a scrolling screen, a necessity for football video games. It wasn't there yet, though.
Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. It would take a few more years before anything like that took place. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. Over the years, this was the yardstick by which all football video games were measured.
It's relatively simple to see why it was such a mega-popular hit - before this, nobody really attempted to make a football video game that was this sophisticated. It was an amazing evolution in football video games, and this one was really a major turning point. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. While worthy of praise, it still trails in the distance from Xbox Madden 10. Hard to believe how much these games have improved since they first came on the scene. We've had a few chuckles, but mocking less advanced video games isn't a productive use of our time. We think you understand. They may have been flawed, but we needed those older games as a "springboard" to what we have today. Xbox Madden 10 is the future of football video games, and the video game community is psyched that the future is looking so bright. The reviews are as positive as the reaction from the gamers themselves - it's a hit with the fans as well as the video game sites. Xbox Madden 10 reviews tend to feature statements such as "realistic and enjoyable." Xbox Madden 10 is another monster hit for EA Sports, though we think you could predict that one. Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. As great as Xbox sports video games offerings are, Xbox Madden 10 is at the top of the pack. Most of the gaming world agrees that this is the new standard by which the rest shall be judged. More than just a great game, it's a chance to display your video game excellence, when you clash for cash.
It's a great time to be an Xbox Madden 10 expert - now you can slug it out for some real money. Once you've reached your apex of acumen, you'll be the one scoring big - and filling up your wallet in the process.
